The Musical Buds Early Years Music Classes are group lessons for babies and toddlers aged 0-3, accompanied by their parent/carer. These SECE (Suzuki Early Childhood Education) classes provide a high-quality, nurturing, musical environment that encourages the all-round development of each child as well as being excellent preparation for learning to play a musical instrument. The curriculum has been carefully selected to provide each child with a stable, rich, nurturing, musical environment during this critical window of early years development. The groups have a maximum size of 8 children so that each person can be given individual attention and benefit from a close-knit sense of community. The lessons include singing, listening to music, developing co-ordination, playing percussion, taking turns, teamwork, building up a natural awareness of pulse and rhythm, learning to recognise the basics of music notation, and developing the musical ear. Each child is able to absorb from this rich environment and grow at their own pace within it, in a naturally cumulative way. As Suzuki said, ‘every child is born with outstanding potential’.
