SECE (Suzuki Early Childhood) classes are group music lessons for babies and toddlers aged 0-3, accompanied by their parent/carer. These classes provide a high-quality musical environment that encourages the all-round development of each child, as well as being excellent preparation for learning to play any musical instrument.
The curriculum has been carefully selected to provide a consistently rich, nurturing, musical environment during this critical window of development. The lessons include singing, listening to music, developing co-ordination, playing percussion, taking turns, teamwork, building an awareness of pulse and rhythm, learning to recognise music notation, and developing the musical ear. Each child absorbs from this rich environment and grows at their own pace within it, in a naturally cumulative way. As Suzuki said, ‘every child is born with outstanding potential’.
